I then redid the nose to be more accurately shaped, improved my poorly designed top rocket launchers and reduced the wings by 1 stud each side to correct the overall proportions. After a lot of messing about with different wedge plates and angles I tried reducing the length by 2 studs and having the cockpit about 4 plates higher up, which seemed to look better. Ī couple of months ago I became unhappy with the long, shoe-like appearance of this ship, the proportions just looked off. Instructions are on Rebrickable, I've only used common and cheap parts so the whole MOC with stand will cost around £45 for the 608 pieces. Overall the Republic Gunship is a 28cm long (including the guns), 27cm wide and weighs 410g. Finally I squeezed a stupidly small BARC speeder up the back end of the ship. There isn't enough headroom to have them hanging by a handrail but some fearless perching before deployment is definitely doable. There’s a small weapons locker in the area between the front hatches, though it' mostly for decoration as its very hard to acces, and the side doors hinge outwards and fold back so that four Clones can be seated inside. The roof opens up to allow access to the cockpit which has just enough room for two Clone Troopers/Pilots to get cozy. The cockpit bubble looks oversized and there’s obviously only one of them so I had to throw accuracy to the wind there, but I’ve squeezed in as many other recognisable details as I could. This isn't intended to be any particular scale, just roughly the same size as the midi-sized Slave 1 (75312) with room for figures and strong enough to be played with. May 2022 Original Post: I've wanted an LAAT of my own for a long time, I missed the opportunity to get one of the Lego sets during my dark-ages and have absolutely nowhere to put a UCS sized pile of plastic, so I thought I'd continue the midi-scale thing and try to make something bookshelf friendly. Also, if you have some comments of questions for Alkido, you can contact him through his CUUSOO page.April 2023 Update: I've made some changes to the Midi Republic Gunship, more info further down and on the Rebrickable page, here's a quick comparison and below is my original post. Remember CUUSOO projects need 10,000 votes before LEGO would consider making them into official LEGO sets, and the LEGO Avatar Scorpion Gunship needs a lot of votes to get there. If you like this LEGO CUUSOO project, please don’t forget to vote. Avatar is scheduled to have at least two more episodes, which makes this LEGO project all the more relevant. LEGO would have to acquire the license to produce this set, and I’m not sure how likely that is going to be, but there is no harm trying. You can check out the LEGO Avatar Scorpion Gunship details (also try to play those videos) and vote for the project here: LEGO Avatar Scorpion Gunship. There are also some videos that supposed to show some of the features, but for the life of me I couldn’t get them to play – Facebook videos can be finicky. Alkido says: “On this design, I devoted particular attention to the rigidity of the installation, the simplicity of construction and playability.” The LEGO Avatar Scorpion Gunship is a large and detailed model, made of 930 LEGO pieces, and designed in LEGO Digital Designer. This LEGO CUUSOO project is the creation on Alkido, and is the most accurate representation of the Scorpion Gunship I have seen. Today I would like to show you a current CUUSOO project that features the famous Scorpion Gunship from the movie in LEGO form. Remember the 2009 blockbuster called Avatar? With the blue people on a far-away planet called Pandora? I recall how right after the movie, there were several wonderful attempts to create scenes from the film using LEGO.
